No Mans Sky, Quick Tips From New Player

Some simple tips, might need to lookup some to understand. There are many things that may change later in game, but these tips are from nearly 50 hours played time and beyond on Xbox.

Tips:

  1. Do the main missions, they have many objectives especially the Artemis ones that unlocks portals with glyphs.
  2. You can make over 400 bases, choose a Paradise planet for main base.
  3. Paradise planet won’t have all the elements that hurt you all the time like a toxic planet.
  4. Melee Jump, melee (RB) and Jump-pack (A) when on land to move quickly across land.
  5. Building a Corvette super ship is easy, get one you won’t die in space battles easy.
  6. Go to a Salvage planet for Corvette parts will need 7 main parts. You can just sell scrap and buy main parts to make it quicker.
  7. Planets with Salvageable Scrap can give you all the corvette parts you need.
  8. You can continually edit your Corvette after it’s finalized or completely rebuild it if needed. Never ending changes basically.
  9. Salvageable scrap can also be an easy way to make lots of units aka money.
  10. Travel to space stations and get exosuit tech or cargo inventory upgrades for $$.
  11. Exosuit tower map data are free exosuit inventory upgrade.
  12. Hoard copper, I’m finding it is used constantly even later in game.
  13. The exosuit refiner is better than the first portable one, get the upgrade.
  14. Put a storage container on Corvette, Base, Freighter, can access all from each.
  15. I just figured out the Galaxy map after 40 hours, was just going where it allowed my right stick to move. Use the left/right directional pad to choose different paths you can travel where ever you want more easily. This little detail changed things big time for me.
  16. Some systems will require a special ship tech module to travel to like planets with Cadmium resource needs a Cadmium drive.
  17. The game throws new things at you often, try staying along the focused path on your mission log.
  18. If you need a resource and don’t know where to find it, select it in the catalog and the game will give you a side mission marked location.
  19. This game auto creates side missions for certain things you might need to create or travel to if you select it in the catalog.
  20. Make an Atlas Pass v1 quickly, allows you to get loot from containers found all over.
  21. When you create Atlas pass you can discard the lower ones if you have, like Atlas pass v3 and you had v2 you can discard v2. Saves you inventory spots.
  22. Have your exosuit tech models with the same icon type all placed together, will see a border color highlight. This means a bonus effect is active, only works on installed active modules.
  23. Make sure your modules are actually installed, you can place modules into suit but not be active.
  24. Supercharged slots in exosuit tech area use for most important module. You can unlock more of them too btw, think there are four in total.
  25. If you get attacked by sentinel bots you can fight them all, around 5 waves with increasing danger will come for you. If you defeat them all they do drop loot.
  26. Sentinel towers/headquarters usually have some amazing loot, there is a machine you need to interact with for big upgrade. Got an A class multi tool there myself very early in game.
  27. Sentinel wave fight you can use the terrain manipulation tool and dig hole/tunnel in ground to make it easier. Make a few holes to shoot through, the little robo dog thing can get you underground if area big enough so keep your tunnel small.
  28. The Anomaly space station is a public meeting hub you will see other real players there and can do multi player things with them.
  29. Hoard Uranium, cheap fuel for ship and stacks very high.

Will add more as I play.
