Played this most of the day on Heroic with all 5 directives solo. Do not recommend doing this with all the directives on I just like craziness at times and mobs don’t give much XP anyways. Recommend doing this in a group for the most keys. Heres my experiences and tips.
Info:
- You need a good damage build especially if solo then some healing function.
- I played this with Murder Effects build which has high damage and crowd control. This build is so clutch but it is not META damage.
- Played with a few random builds and it was tough as expected, trying to have more fun and dying in the process more than usual.
- Recommend a build with at least 4 red cores but 6 is better with good cover play style.
- This event and the nimble holster equipped will keep you deadly and won’t need any healing on anything equipped. Try that holster out massive heals especially if solo.
- Don’t recommend skill builds, targeting will not work good in Dust.
- The dust devil mobs can respawn instantly, literally kill one another spawns on top of body.
- Set your difficulty lower if grinding for keys for caches or community event solo, the higher difficulty makes the boss spawn faster though.
- If doing open world events you will almost always get snuck up on by the dust devils.
- The two bosses can be annoying, Iron Lung boss is a bullet sponge he does have red tanks on back shoot them, Sniper boss tosses skills and can one shot you.
- For Iron Lung climb up above him in the city, this angle makes it easy to pop his tanks off and does big damage. Use foam grenades or chem launcher to make it easier to get behind, this work for the dust devil boss with shield too.
- For the Sniper boss get close avoid getting one shotted then not very hard to down. Sniper has skills like sniper turret and seeker mines, when close they won’t toss them.
- I gathered around 40 keys in my play time solo, for the amount of mobs I killed this seems too low. I played for 6-7 hours.
- These types of events are best in a group for key farming, the mobs start coming out like crazy. For instance I got around 20 keys in around 15 minutes in group vs solo maybe 5 in an hour.
- When a key drops it will show as a blue icon in the loot, you can just run over to it and it will auto pickup. Do not need to pickup the loot unless you want it.
- If the hunter appears I believe the game auto calls for backup and you can get key farms going for a bit. This is very typical for these type of events.
- This event is good for newer players or casual players who don’t play much but want the best gear in the game, for veterans it’s just cosmetics and some exotic components. You can get the good gear by using the keys that drop at the vendor in Haven, there are three different caches use them on the gear one.
- Explore NYC the big event caches (image for post) scattered around the city make a noise when close, got a few exotics, 1 prototype, and random gear from them. One time a boss Iron Lung may have spawned from one, not sure though. I’ll look back at my stream.
