Update:
The more I play this the gravity of this game grows, a constant dilemma comes up. Aggression Based Matchmaking is used in this game and it’s pretty cool most of the time. So when you are solo and some guy starts shooting you from 300m away there is a few possible back stories for this person. They are really bad at PVP and were killed or last round they were jumped and are repeating the process on someone else, or hoping to. Some phycology going on in this game for real, another thing is one day you might do this yourself who knows.
Use the Anvil pistol to kill Arcs for the shared watch event going on currently.
Tips for rookies:
- Free loadout limits you a bunch, but use them as a rookie.
- If you get a good setup on free loadout and extract keep using the same one.
- The early guns that use light ammo seem to all suck really bad except stitcher.
- Free loadout can give you some nice stuff at times, like fancy grenades.
- Over time your guns/shields break down and need repaired.
- I suggest using Free Loadout for awhile maybe to level 10.
- I spent most of the skill points on Mobility, seems good so far.
- You have stamina that runs out when sprinting but it improves with the skills.
- To make money sell all your crap so you can expand inventory space a few times.
- Play in group to start and learn the game, use “Fill Squad” and have it “On”.
- Make a custom loadout with extra stuff to survive,
- Craft or purchase your preferred weapon.
- Upgrade the weapon or buy it upgraded,
- Have plenty of shield rechargers and bandages 5x of each.
- The basic bandages in free loadout are very weak, try the upgraded one.
- Medium shield is barely noticeable over light +10%, plus slows you down.
- Pack a defibrillator and keep in safe pocket to revive others when noob.
- If you are trying to farm but group wants to pvp, stay with group, solo to farm.
- Make sure to expand your inventory, it makes a big difference.
- You can sell extra lesser used resources for money, you’ll get more not hard.
- I keep around 50 heavy ammo for Anvil and Ferro.
- I like using a SMG and Anvil Pistol, make sure to pack extra ammo for SMG like 200.
- Do the quests during missions, finished ones showing above finally.
- Anvil pistol is much better Arc killer, can buy from Trader.
- On Xbox running solo is typically a bit more PVE, but got shot at 1/7 matches.
- Squad of 3 is full of lessons, each person having a different focus.
- Just stay within 50m of each other or closer, you will be picked off otherwise.
- Using the emote wheel to say hey or don’t shoot does help at times.
- When I hit level 20 the Expedition unlocked, it resets your progress but gives buffs.
- Think of it like a season in Diablo 3-4, but you keep your character and some things.
- It’s a project in this game and not a season.
- I’d suggest not worrying about Expedition until you learn more, it’s not mandatory anyway.
- Killing Arcs is about hitting the weak points and is enhanced when using a decent weapon..
- Arc that fly can be shot in the propellers on the side to lose control, they crash.
- The rolling Arcs in buildings that explode, wait for their armor to open up, easy kill.
- Earlier today two wasps died flying next to each other from a single Anvil shot.
- Aggression Based Matchmaking, you will be in matches with other like minded players “usually”.
- Upgrade Scrappy the workshop rooster 5x for more passive resources to claim.
- All the crafting benches have their own level and need resources to upgrade.
- You can do “Naked” runs, no free loadout, nothing in inventory, has safe pocket, no guns.
- Loot everything even if another player emptied it, you gain xp for scavenging.
- Ask to loot when another player killed Arc and is there or you most likely will be attacked.
- When all is said and done the goal is to be the most powerful rat in the game.
If you want to just farm resources or kill Arc for event just use a free loadout, then you don’t need to worry about losing better stuff. One thing is over time all the gear is very easy to make or buy again. It’s not a big deal. Now gaining money so far is a pain, seems like selling stuff is the only way to earn it. Arc devs need to add more ways to earn money in the game, otherwise we have to farm just to sell things for money. That will grow very old and cause more players to learn how to duplicate items in inventory or just stop playing the game.
Rat lessons:
Stuff to watch out for:
- Jolt Mines and trip wire traps, this can set off a huge explosion with Trigger Nades planted near.
- Snitch scanners, each one can be thrown and spawn two Arc, someone can throw a few to trap you.
- Piles of small hard to see Wasp drivers or easy to see red Synthesized fuel canisters in odd places.
- Zip lines, extraction buttons, doorways are all very common trap locations.
- Raiders who like to shadow you or stay out of your front view.
- Rocketeer at extraction areas, engaging one may entice a rat to unload on you.
- Betrayal, it is part of the game, fake friends, trust no one even team mates.
- Blaze grenades, team mates can rat you with them.
